Kuala Lumpur: A City of Districts
Kuala Lumpur is the bustling capital of Malaysia. The name of the city means “muddy estuary” does not describe this lovely city. Once a small mining town run by the Chinese government, the city is now home to lavish hotels, restaurants, and shopping.
Kuala Lumpur, or KL as it is locally called, is a city made up of many districts. Each district has its own charms and should not be missed by tourists. The City Centre district is the city’s historical and cultural district. Colonial buildings and government buildings are located here as is KL’s Chinatown. The KL Chinatown is not only an area of restaurants and shops. The area pays homage to the city’s past links with China.
The Golden triangle is another of the city’s districts. The Golden Triangle is a ritzy area of town and it is here that visitors will find glamorous five star hotels and great shopping.
The Jala Tuanku Abdul Rahman district is home to the city’s many festivals. If visitors are looking for locally made items and crafts this is the district where they should shop. It is not as high end as the Golden Triangle but is much more authentic.
Many more districts are located throughout the city and visitors will enjoy exploring them all. As stated, each district has it own attractions and charms and all of them will be enjoyed while visiting the city. Most visitors to the city stay in the Golden Triangle district as it is the location of the better hotels. It is a great base from which to explore the entire city.
